A C$40m winning ticket nobody has claimed
A Lotto Max ticket worth C$40 million, about £21.4 million, is about to expire in Canada. Nobody has come forward with it.
It won the jackpot in the draw on Tuesday 28 October 2025, and it was bought from a shop in Grey County, Ontario. Players in Ontario get a year to claim. So the ticket runs out at midnight on Wednesday 28 October 2026, Ontario time. That’s 4am on Thursday in the UK.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) says the ticket has never been scanned in its app or checked in a shop. After a year of waiting, it put out one last appeal.
The winning Lotto Max numbers
If you bought a Lotto Max ticket for the draw on 28 October 2025, check it against these numbers: 06, 14, 17, 19, 26, 43 and 45, with Bonus 27.
Who could the winner be?
Grey County covers Owen Sound and the Blue Mountains area, and lots of people go there on holiday. OLG thinks a visitor may have bought the ticket on a trip and never checked it once they got home.
It has asked people to search coat pockets, handbags, backpacks, wallets and car glove boxes.
What happens to an unclaimed lottery prize in Canada?
If nobody claims it in time, OLG keeps the C$40m and uses it for future games.
It’s happened before. A C$70m Lotto Max jackpot won in Scarborough, Ontario, in the draw on 28 June 2022 was never claimed. OLG said about 2,700 people called or emailed about that ticket. None of them had it.
Atlantic Lottery, which runs the games in Canada’s Atlantic provinces, has said about 1% of prizes go unclaimed. Most of those are small amounts.
Canada’s record C$90m jackpot was won last week
The deadline comes a week after Canada’s biggest ever lottery win. A ticket bought in Alberta won the C$90m Lotto Max jackpot on Tuesday 20 October. Officials said it looked like a small group from the Calgary area, but the winners haven’t been named.
How long do you get to claim in the UK?
Much less time. You have 180 days from the draw to claim a National Lottery draw game prize, which is about six months. Our guide to how long you have to claim a lottery prize has the details.
What happens next is different too. In the UK, money that isn’t claimed goes to National Lottery good causes, along with any interest it has earned.
There’s a big UK prize waiting right now. A £12m Lotto jackpot from Saturday 6 June 2026, bought in Rhondda Cynon Taf, has to be claimed by Thursday 3 December. Our unclaimed lottery prizes post lists every big UK prize still waiting.
